10x20 Tent Pops at Tailgating

If you were at what could turn out to be the most exciting college football game of the year, you would have seen one of our digital tents in action. Below is a picture of A&M alum Tom with a 10x20 tent he purchased from us. Tom had a picture from a 1972 Sports Illustrated magazine that he wanted blown up on a tent. Look closely behind him at the valence and you will see the picture of some of Tom's classmates from 1972:

Want to stand out from the crowd? Well, one way to do that is to put a flag on top of the tent. Our flags range from 6 feet to 21 feet in height.  Flags can be put on top of the tent (with additional hardware) or set up next to the tent.

And don't forget that when you order flags with a tent, you receive a package discount.

Could you run a 100 miles in one shot?

We have impressive not-for-profit clients, and we wanted to put the spotlight on one client that has an incredible event for an excellent cause this weekend.  The event is a continuous 100 mile run.  Yes, that is right, 100 miles without stops.  Ryan "Birdman" Parrott will begin running on Sunday, May 26 in Waco, Texas and finish 100 miles later on Monday, May 27, in Dallas, Texas.  That is impressive.

The purpose of the 100 mile run is to raise $100,000 for burn survivors. This event is being sponsored by Sons of the Flag, a non-profit that provides critical support to military service members, first responders and civilians who have survived burn injuries.  Through an extensive network of funding and support, Sons of the Flag aims to further develop innovative research and state-of-the art skin technologies for the treatment of severe burns by partnering with leading burn centers across the nation.

To use a table cover or not to use a table cover... that is the question

Table covers are popular in trade shows, product demonstration booths, product launches and registration booths.   Any time you have your people sitting at a table, you probably want to cover that table in a way that continues to further your message. A lot of customers buy table covers as part of a larger package, but table covers can also be bought by themselves. In fact, for those customers on a very tight budget, we recommend that you first buy a branded table cover before you buy a tent -- take a look at this customer in Oregon who used table covers along with a simple pipe and drape display for an indoor event:

But they also bought a 10x20 tent that they used at an outdoor event... you can't expect an off road company to be stuck inside:

Table covers also have different names -- some people refer to them as table drapes, table throws or table skirts. Usually, though, a table throw or table skirt does not have a zipper or slit at the back. That is a personal preference.  At Splash Tents, Inc., we don't charge extra for a slit or a zipper in our table covers, so you can feel free to choose the option that suits your needs best without worrying about being nickel-and-dimed with extra charges. (But a quick tip -- if you plan on temporarily storing products or other items under your table, you will want a slit or zipper on the table cover to provide easy access.)

We also have multiple types of table covers to choose from -- Rectangular Table Throws (2', 4', 6', 8'), Round Table Throws (2', 4'), Fitted Table Covers (2', 4', 6', 8'), Round Fitted Table Covers (2', 4'), Ultra Fitted Table Covers (6', 8') & Accent Table Throws (30", 60"). As you might have guessed, the most popular table cover is the 6 foot or the 8' rectangle table cover.

NBA sponsors use tradeshow displays to get noticed

With the NBA playoff in full swing, we wanted to take a quick look back at how sponsors of NBA teams have used our products to create a high impact event. After spending a lot of money on expensive sponsorships, our clients want to make sure that their displays pop.  And that is why people turn to us.   Take a look at the tradeshow display of Kumho Tires, the official tire of the Los Angeles Lakers, outside of the Staples Center in L.A.

Or here is a closer view during the day:

And here is a better look at the backwall for the event (with one of the youngest fans of the LA Laker's youngest fans along with his 3 new friends):

Tent Lingo Explained

Every industry has some specific lingo that is helpful to understand in order to make an informed decision. We put together a Top 6 list for common lingo terms used in the pop up tent business:

1) Bolt-on-Top -- A bolt-on-top is a bolt on the frame that attaches to the canopy. A bolt-on-top is important because it prevents the canopy from flying away during wind.  To give you an example, the EZ Up Eclipse II 10x10 has a total of 4 bolt-on-tops (one on each side). But be careful because not all tents have a bolt-on-top.  It might be a little difficult to see because they are small, but below is a picture of a tent with a marking showing the bolt-on-top:

2) Peak -- The peak is the top most triangle (or in a larger tent, quadrilateral) portion of a canopy. A tent has 4 peaks.

3) Valance -- The valance is the rectangular portion of the tent that drops down from the peak.  A tent has 4 valances.

4) Railskirts -- Railskirts are also know as half-walls or sideskirts.  They are attachable to any side of the tent (with the railskirt hardware).  Railskirts are very popular with restaurants, food booths, radio stations or anyone wanting more exposure. Railskirts can also be used as barricades to mark a path at any corporate or racing event. For a 10x10 tent, railskirts are 10 feet wide by 3 feet tall.

5) Sidewalls -- Sidewalls also go on any side of the tent. Unlike railskirts, sidewalls cover an entire side of the tent and don't require any extra hardware.  If you just have a sidewall on the back side of the tent, it is called a backwall (but of course, each side is interchangeable if it is the same size). For a 10x10 tent, sidewalls are 10 feet wide by 7 feet tall.

6) Toggles & Pull Pin Sliders -- Toggle leg adjustments are used to adjust the height of the tent.  When you are putting the tent up, pull-pin sliders automatically lock.  And when you are trying to break down the tent, pull-pin sliders quickly release to make the process easy. Not all tents have the toggle assembly and EZ pull-pin sliders -- without them, it is much harder to set the frame up and down.

Professional Sports use EZ Up Tents

The Super Bowl was a lot of fun to watch again this year -- both for the game itself and the ads.  And the ad prices set another record; they were estimated at $3.8 million per adNew Orleans also got a boost too (expected economic impact of $484 million for the southern Louisiana area), which is nice to see given the difficulties New Orleans have faced in recent years.

While most companies can't afford to market at the Super Bowl, there are still lots of opportunities to market your products in connection with professional sports.  We generally find that customers want to use an EZ Up 10x20 Professional Instant Shelter®  -- they like that the larger size tent allows for a high capacity of people and larger graphic area. This works great for indoors or for marketing during tailgating events.  Another popular product that goes well with the 10x20 tent is a table cover because it helps you communicate your brand while participants are talking to someone at the booth or waiting to be assisted.

Hollywood Loves EZ Up Tents

With the Oscar's coming up on Feb 24th, 2013, we were recently thinking about how Hollywood uses EZ Up tents. Just last year, E! Entertainment used our EZ Up Pop Lite™ 4x4  Professional Instant Shelter® for a red carpet event in Los Angeles, California.

While many people default to the 10x10 tents, sometimes the EZ Up Pop Lite™ 4x4 tent is the right product choice, especially if you don't have a lot of space. The EZ Up Pop Lite™ 4x4 is a great choice because it has a lightweight frame and five top styles to chose from to create a customized marketing message.

The EZ Up Pop Lite™ 4x4 is ideal for point-of-purchase, in-store displays, end-cap displays, island displays or anywhere else with tight space.
